Why would someone even buy my photo?
Every article that someone publish, on blog, on news website, in newspapers or magazines contain photos, and you can’t just use someones photo without permission, so they go to these sites and they buy photos that will be uploaded on their sites.
For example, someone will write article about cats, and they need some nice cat photo, they don’t have camera so they can’t really take nice photo for their readers.
Now they will go to some Stock site and they will look for cat photos there.
If you uploaded some cat photos there and they buy it for their article, they will pay maybe 1-3-4-5$ for that photo.
What do I get from that?
You will get commission per sale, so if someone buy your photo you will get anything between 25 cents and five dollars.
Some sites will pay more, some of them will pay less, but this is average (0.25$ – 5$).
How to Start with Stock Photography?
First you need to collect some Stock photos, if you are professional photographer you probably have million photos on your PC or your SD cards, so you just need to edit them in photoshop, remove noise and adjust colors, if you don’t know how there are lot of tutorial about this on Youtube.
Next thing you have to do is to register your account on some Stock website, I will list you few most popular sites:

If you want to make more money you should sell photos on few sites, not just one.
Some sites will just reject some of your photos, and you should not worry about it, there are few reasons why they do this, most of them will send you explanation for the rejection. (low quality, bad description..)
Describe photo in photo title, people will more likely find your photos, for animals and flowers put their scientific names in description and describe it better (color, size..).
For your stock photos you need some professional camera, without it your photos will probably be low quality.

Even if you have a good camera you need to edit your photo later, add some contrast, adjust colors, basically make them look professional.
How Much Money Can I Make with Stock Photos?
I contacted few stock photographers and most of them make 1$ per month for one photo. (average)
If you think that this is not really a lot of money, check this out:
If you upload 3 photos per day = 90 photos per month.
So in the first month you will make maybe 20-40$.
After few months you will become professional and you will be able to upload 5 photos per day. (at least)
Imagine this, some of these sellers on stock sites uploaded more than 10 000 photos, and that’s amazing.
So if they make 1$ per photo every month some of them make 10 000$ per month.
And guess what, this is one great example of steady passive income, once you upload your photo, it will make money for you forever.
